Identity and environmental design to meet the new era

Background

Kruthuset 17 is located next to Gothenburg Central Station. It was once a logistics hub for Posten. Today, much of the building has been refurbished into offices. With a time-worn façade and no identity, an update was needed. We were tasked with creating a new graphic profile, environmental graphic design and placemaking for Kruthuset 17.

Solution

The graphic profile reflects the building’s heritage as a postal terminal. The envelope inspired the shape of the yellow signs and façade elements. To make the brand even more visually evident from the railroad tracks, a symbol suitable for the space was created. The yellow color is used at entrances, docks and toward the railroad. Carefully considered light design for signs and yellow areas increase the appeal even more at nighttime.

The location beside the railroad tracks and many travelers passing by gave us a unique opportunity for bold branding. The rebrand and architectural updates transformed the building from dull to modern, making it highly visual – and earning positive feedback from locals.
