Farsta Centrum is one of Sweden’s largest shopping centers and has been awarded both “Shopping Center of the Year” and the “European Shopping Center Award.” As a result of constant growth over the years and the massive physical size, many visitors found it difficult to find the stores they were looking for – and then locate their parked car. With no structure to their navigation system and services, Farsta Centrum was due for a wayfinding overhaul.
We refined the information overload with a clear, simple solution that was instantly recognizable and understandable for visitors. Our inspiration for the three-floor interior navigation system was underground train maps. This structure is familiar to visitors, as it is a primary form of transport to Farsta Centrum. The new system helps visitors become oriented and navigate around the center with minimum fuss, and the staffed info desk could be eliminated.
