Uniting old and new with wayfinding

Background

A modern new building was added and connected to the existing nineteenth-century building when the operation needed a bigger location. Our mission was to create a wayfinding strategy suited to the upcoming needs in the new and old premises. We were also tasked with creating the graphic and signage design.

Solution

Thoroughly analytical studies were carried out regarding the different functions and specific needs for staff, parents and pupils, and how they could be directed clearly and effectively, without interfering too much during the day.

The wayfinding system involved applying a specific color to each floor, beginning with an earthy brown at the lowest level, up to a sunny orange-yellow at the top. The chosen typeface was designed at the legendary Bauhaus school, and together with the screen-printed gold pattern, it creates a sense of tradition and quality that is also reflected in the new architecture.

The signage system is appreciated both for its production quality and high functionality.
